London Fruit is offering more items in clamshells, starting with avocados and limes.
The company has successfully marketed honey mangoes (ataulfos), according to the release, leading to an interest in exploring that packaging option.
“The clamshells will deliver convenience, protection, stackability, and cost effectiveness compared to bagged fruit,” Jerry Garcia, vice president at London Fruit, said in the release. “We believe this program will be a winner!”
The company will debut the clamshells at the New York Produce Show’s expo on Dec. 12, according to the release. The London Fruit booth is No. 202.
“We’re very optimistic about packaging our products and hope customers will try this new packaging line of products in their produce departments,” Mario Cardenas, sales manager, said in the release. “It’s an evolving program and we hope to private label with this as well.”
