For the second straight year, Kelowna, British Columbia-based BC Tree Fruits has a consumer component for its National Apple Month celebration in February.
This year, the web-based promotion revolves around apples as an easy snack with the “Good to Go” tagline. Consumers in Canada can go to www.applemonth.com and share a photo of them enjoying an apple as a healthful portable snack and share it through social media, says Chris Pollock, marketing manager.
The photo with the most votes wins a $2,000 cash prize with a matching $2,000 donated to a charity of their choice.
In-store the apple month promotions include apple sampling in more than 250 retail locations in Canada, point-of-sale kits with tear pads and a bird bath display bin retailers can set up in their stores.
BC Tree Fruits also offers two different tote bags, one with “Good to Go” information and another promoting British Columbia-grown fruit.
“These are pieces that retailers can use at the point of sale to promote apple month and to show consumers in their respective stores that they do support BC Tree Fruits and Canadian apples,” Pollock says.
